Vorarlberg is setting national standards in emission-free regional bus transport: since the beginning of the year, one in three buses has been electric. Around 100 e-buses are currently in use. By spring, the e-bus fleet will grow to 141. More than half of these are operated by ÖBB Postbus. A key milestone is the expansion of the Wolfurt site into Austria's largest e-bus garage, which has been specifically prepared for the operation of the new electric buses in recent months.
With this project, Postbus is underlining its role as an innovation driver in the Austrian bus market. Extensive investments in infrastructure, new technologies, and employee training and development ensure reliable everyday operation. The use of e-buses shows that emission-free regular service also works successfully in interurban areas.
The implementation is being carried out in close cooperation with Vorarlberg, the Vorarlberg Transport Association, regional transport companies, municipal associations, illwerke vkw, and bus manufacturer MAN. This strong partnership forms the basis for the gradual transformation of the bus fleet and sustainable public transport in Vorarlberg.
