First ski bus with electric drive

Whisper quiet through Zell am See-Kaprun.

Every year, Zell am See-Kaprun shows how traffic can be reduced and shifted to environmentally friendly public transport during the ski winter in the province of Salzburg. This year, the next step is being taken: together with the Gletscherbahnen Kaprun, Postbus is using an e-driven ski bus for the first time.

In many tourist regions, our ski buses are not only a living tradition of successful partnerships over many years. By shifting private transport to public transport, they relieve the burden on the population and, of course, on the environment. During the ski winter, for example, our ski buses in the tourist region of Zell am See-Kaprun take skiers and snowboarders to the Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel ski areas in Kaprun every year in a relaxed and safe manner. In addition, the Kaprun village (post)bus circles the village centre during the peak ski season.

Whisper-quiet village bus on the road

Together with the glacier lifts, we are going one step further this year and converting the Kaprun village bus to an electric bus for the first time. The electrically powered ski bus is whisper-quiet, completely emission-free and offers enough space for up to 67 passengers. With a length of 9.5 metres and its narrow width of only 2.33 metres, the bus is ideally suited for use in small village centres as well as on narrow streets. The electric bus will operate as a ski bus in the centre of Kaprun on line "D" from 25 December 2021 until 31 March 2022, connecting the centre of the village with the valley station of the MK-Maiskogelbahn every 20 minutes.
