E-Bus im Weinviertel

Electric drive on twelve meters

Southern Weinviertel on the move in a climate-friendly way.

Postbus can already look back on several years of experience with e-drives. Many tests in almost all of Austria have been successful. Since 2020, Vorarlberg has been making bus transport greener thanks to our four electric vehicles. Now the first regional bus system in Lower Austria powered by e-buses has been realised. Together with Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR), we are not only pioneering the use of zero-emission drive technologies, but also ushering in a new era of public transport in the southern Weinviertel region.

Now the starting signal was given for the use of the twelve-meter long low-floor electric buses from Mercedes-Benz. The currently diesel-powered regional bus lines 530 and 535 in the Gänserndorf - Mistelbach - Wolkersdorf region will be converted to climate-friendly electric operation. On the 1.3 million kilometers travelled annually, the eleven buses will now be completely emission-free. The environment can breathe a sigh of relief and passengers will enjoy a completely new driving experience.

Climate-friendly refuelling

The buses are charged with green electricity supplied by ÖBB INFRA. Three pantograph charging stations ensure fast charging. Thanks to the pantograph on the roof of the buses and the 300 kW charging station, the high-voltage batteries can be charged several times a day within 30 minutes. Overnight, the buses are plugged into the cable charging stations in the Postbus garages and charged with 150 kW of power so that they can start the next day's tour refuelled and rested.
