Since December 1997 the region "Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut" is one of Austria's contribution to the list of the UNESCO-World heritage.

With Postbus-line 542 you can travel directly to the inner "Salzkammergut" and visit the historic cultural landscape at the foot of the mighty Dachstein.
Gosau, Obertraun, Hallstatt and Bad Goisern are located in the heart of the Salzkammergut, whose landscape is characterized by a cultural continuity extending over three and a half millennia. The salt production dates back to the Middle Bronze age, and founded the wealth of the population.
